Fundraising: Where the money goes
The Stone-Robinson PTO works to promote and support quality education within Stone-Robinson Elementary and the community. The funds raised yearly enable the SRE PTO to offer activities, experiences, and learning tools that enhance the Stone-Robinson experience beyond what the Albemarle County budget provides.
Each year the SRE PTO provides roughly $20K in stipends to the classroom teachers to provide supplies for their classrooms, professional development and to supplement field trips. In addition to these funds, the SRE PTO also provides the supplies for the makerspace room, scholarships for student enrichment, and discretionary funds for the specialist teachers and the principal.
Beginning in 2018, the Stone-Robinson PTO began accepting grant proposals for Project Based Learning. Teachers are now able to apply for small grants to use with their students through hands-on learning projects. Funded projects have included the Third Grade School Store and beautification work to gain certification as an Audubon International Certified Sanctuary.
Lastly, the Stone-Robinson PTO organizes and puts on several free Family-Friendly events throughout the school year, including the:
- Back-to-School Bash
- Movie Under the Stars
- School Dance
- Stone-Robinson Talent Show.
These events would not be possible without funding from the SRE PTO.
We have several diverse and creative means of fundraising in hopes that every family is able to participate in one way or another. We are always open to suggestions for new ideas. Some of ways we have fundraised in the past are:
Original Works Program 1st Annual SRE Craft Fair Dine and Donate
Camp 4 Real Partnership T-shirt Sales Grocery Store Program
